The 123/MID-4-A-V ignition has been developed with a side entry distributor cap to prevent blocking of the steering column on in-line A series engines. The distributor can be fitted to any negative ground only (!) A series engine.

The unit offers 16 different advance-curves, which can be selected by means of a little switch. This is a great feature for easy fine-tuning your engine!

It also offers:
- Vacuum-advance
- Automatic dwell
- Automatic power-cut after 1 second
- Gear shift retard

Note: the 123/GB is not equipped with a cog wheel to operate a mechanical tachometer. Check if you need this connection, as the ignition doesn't have one. Therefor, please check the dimensions of your distributor and compare them with the technical drawing below.

Please read the installation manual carefully. It contains more information on the motor- and distributor numbers, static timing and the advance-curves (often found on the last page), the specifications of the 123ignition and a step-by-step description of the installation procedure.

Note: Although used coils all look alike, they should be viewed with suspicion since one cannot tell from the outside whether, and how often they were exposed to overheating in the past. Installing the 123ignition system will ensure that the coil will never be overheated again in the future. We recommend the High Energy Coil 2020.

1964 Midget MkI

The new distributor was well packed against poor handling by the carrier. The instructions for installation were clear although it was difficult to decide on which curve I needed to choose for my engine. Installation was straightforward, quite tight getting it into the engine block. Once in, it engaged perfectly and setting the initial timing was very simple. The cap seems a little loose and needed hodling firmly when attaching the plug leads. The engine fired up within a few turns of the starter motor and runs much more smoothly, a vast improvement on the old distributor.

makkelijke installatie, perfecte werking

Omdat mijn Midget uit 1966 niet lekker liep besloot ik om de ontsteking te vervangen. Na, telefonische, bestelling bij Leen kon ik hem al de volgende dag ophalen, dat was lekker snel. Het monteren van de onsteking was echt heel eenvoudig. Bij de Midget is wel wat weinig ruimte maar na even uitproberen met de verdelerkap zat het beter dan de originele ontsteking! Na het plaatsen van de onsteking zijn we met de Midget 1700 km door Schotland gaan rijden en we hebben geen enkel probleem gehad!
Een echte aanrader dus!
